The ESR pipe-cutting system

The ESR pipe-cutting system consists in application of an additional device, operating outsider the working area of the cutter and using a plasma or gas support. This function is effected by a burner placed on the support fixe on the outer extension of the portal beam.

The system is equipped with a special rotating head with a handle to provide for perpendicularity of the cutting with respect to the pipe axis.

The ESR system is offered with the following configuration:

• ESR 300 – from 100 mm to 300 mm
• ESR 600 – from 150 mm to 620 mm
• ESR 900 – from 300 mm to 920 mm

Swivels enabling cutting pipes from 620 to 920 mm require special preparation of the groundwork or special foundation of the device. Each pipe to be cut needs to be supported by means of a support cart, depending on the length and weight of the pipe. The maximum load on the support cart may not exceed 500 kg.

An additional control panel, enabling supervision of the pipe-cutting process, is located at the end of the outer beam of the device portal. The panel has the following functionalities:

• cutter start/stop
• support lifting/lowering
• moving back or forward along the cutting line
• heating gas on/off
• cutting gas on/off

The software to manager the swivel is either SheetCAD® or Lantek®. These are tools to create pipe joint and profile cutting design. They have 227 models, each to be 3D viewed and edited in any way. The programs are easy to use thanks to a clearly navigable menu. The technologist’s task is just to enter the desired dimensions into appropriate Windows. The cutting design is generated automatically and saved in the dxf format which may be used to create cutting paths, e.g. in the EckCAM Professional Plus application.

In order to remove exhaust gases produced in the process of cutting, it is possible to equip the selected ESR system with an extraction bath, as well as to effect exhaust gas extraction by means of a fan or a filter-fan system.
