Plasma-cutting

Plasma-cutting consists on melting and ejecting of material from the split by means of strong concentred plasma arc; it make possible to cut all the electrical conductor materials.

Plasma arc ist highly ionized gas with great kinetic energy. The flux velocity ist nearing to acoustic velocity. Arc shining preceeds aid of stream stimulus of high current strength. The arc high temperature permits to cut without heating; thanks to it the piercing time can be shortened.

Adventages of technology:
- high velocity,
- cutting without heating – speedy piercing,
- narrow cutting area – relative not great temperature influence for all material thanks to high velocity and narrow split,
- possibility of cutting without to burn in part of thin material

Disadventages of technology:
- a high noice,
- great radiation,
- lots of gas and smoke,
- changes in cutting influence area,
- difficult to keep a vertical position of edges.

Persistence of orifaces and cathodes is maenly dependent of repeated igniting and puting out of arc. A plasma burner must be necessary keeped on constant distance. The plasma burner are liquid-cooled to order to elongate orifaces persistance. Using of whirl gas results any protection of cutting area against to air influence; it ensures extra cooling and results constraint and increase of vertical flux lenght. Plasma gas: air, oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen and blend: argon + hydrogen, nitrogen + hydrogen. In the case of low-carbon-steel the best results ensures oxygen (no burr, a vertical edge can by easily keeped). A oxygene sheath protect against absorption of nitrogen on the edges; on effect the materials are suitable for welding without additional treatment.
Nitrogen is prefered as burning gas for thicker materials by highest amperage. Using of nitrogen low consumption of orifaces and kathodes. But the edges can be porous and a burr can appeare. Also welding can be hampered. Hydrogen and argon and its blend are prefered tu cut of antycorosive plate. The arc kinetic energy increses.
